Most of our work here at The Art of Custom Framing is wholesale orders. Our primary business is sports related memorabilia, and we do see a lot of interesting pieces of sports history. If you’re a sports fan, some of the things you can see here on a daily basis are downright cool. But every once and a while, something really extraordinary comes along and you just have to share.
One of our customers is a dealer who handles a lot of baseball related things, but he’s been working on one particular project for over 10 years. He’s taken a large panoramic photo of the first Negro League Championship in 1924 between the Kansas City Monarchs and the Hilldale Club and traveled around the country having former Negro League greats autograph it. He’s amassed something like 170 signatures on this photo over the years. Of the 170, more than 100 are no longer with us, so this piece is a unique snapshot of history that is beginning to pass us by.
The finished piece turned out great and a whenever an item like comes through the shop, it brightens our day a little.
